Wearing a pumpkin on your head has the benefit of not angering endermen.

No one ever wears one since you cant see shit through it. (Or if they do they disable it or go into F5).

Vanilla Tweaks has an option to make the pumpkin overlay transparent, and its therefore not that bad to wear.
